Infectious disease had posed problems for doctors for centuries. The developed knowledge of the anatomy and the working of the human body led more and more doctors to gain an understanding of what caused illness and diseases. Scientists and Doctors the world over began to look for cures and remedies. From the late 18th century onwards there were many developments and discoveries that aided the fight against infectious disease.
